Local Firefighters 3368 in the Community
2022/2023 Outlook
Carpinteria-Summerland Firefighters Association Local 3368 annually hosts three major charity events as well as three to four smaller events depending on community needs or opportunities. We as a union are incredibly lucky for every event that Local 3368 hosts, and we are supported by the Carpinteria Summerland Fire District in any way they can as well. Donating and giving back to our community is just one way we can show appreciation for our jobs and opportunities.
Annual Springtime open house that welcomes the community into our Carpinteria Station 61. It’s time for us to interact with our community as they tour all the station bays, engines, and equipment. We shut down Walnut Ave in front of the station to have a bounce house, kids fire hose structure, photo booth, car extrication demonstration, food, and drinks for all.
Annual Avocado Festival to reach our community by teaching hands-only CPR for free, ensuring our public is educated to help when someone else is in need. We also help raise money for the next donation by selling union t-shirts.
Annual Christmas gift donation and Santa Run, which is sponsored by both the Local Union, and Carpinteria Summerland Fire Protection District & Board of Directors. Our gift donation last year with our joint efforts raised $2500 that helped 50 local students have something extra for the holiday. Last year was our 1st Annual Santa Run in which Santa rides on top of our fire engine and drives through Summerland and Carpinteria wishing all a Happy Holidays & Merry Christmas. We look forward to this year’s Santa Run on December 16th, we will be collecting Toys for Tots donations as well as a fill-the-boot opportunity throughout the parade routes in both Summerland and Carpinteria.
Throughout the year many members of our union take part in events in our community, county, and even further! For many years they have taken part in raising money and donating to the Seattle Stair Climb benefiting L.L.S. Leukemia Lymphoma Society. For the past 2 years, we have sponsored a safety sticker that we hand out around town and in campgrounds to visitors and constituents promoting a safety message or kind thought.
Just this year we had a safety outreach to our local Jr. Lifeguard program in Carpinteria, teaching CPR, and First Aid to the students. This summer we hosted a pizza party for our Carp Jr. Lifeguards in congratulations for their accomplishment of completing their training. The union has and will continue to supply scholarships to Jr. Lifeguards.
Upon completion of the city’s new skate park, we will be donating helmets and safety equipment. We take our charity work seriously touting community first always and are graciously willing to give back what our community has blessed us all with great jobs.
We look forward to the next opportunity in helping our community and are always open to innovative ideas on ways to help and give back.
